The 1948 Cleveland Indians were led to the World Series by player/manager Lou Boudreau whose efforts earned him regular-season MVP honors. The Indians also featured Hall-of-Fame hurlers Bob Lemon and Bob Feller as well as 20-game winner Gene Bearden and the 1954 AL home run champion Larry Doby.
