Easley-Rosa Bridge

1927 Blount County Alabama

This bridge is referred to as Old Easley or the Rosa Bridge as it is located in the Rosa community. You will find this bridge three miles north of Oneonta Alabama and just west of Highway 231 on County Road 33. This is Blount Countys oldest surviving covered bridges. This is a single span Town bridge of only 95 feet long and 14 feet wide. It spans Dub Branch just eighteen feet above water. Very little water flows under this old bridge. Members of the Tidwell family built all the Blount County bridges.

As you can see in my rendering of this bridge Dub Branch is little more than a trickle of water. What I found on the banks in the abundance of rock is most inserting. When you see that a short rock wall had been built in the past. I can find no record of a mill or lower bridge at this location.

This little bridge is tucked away on back roads rarely traveled but for local residence. The area around the bridge is over grown. To get this view I had to spend time in thick brush recording what I found then put it together in the content of this picture. You will enjoy the workmanship of this little bridge
