This silver one reale was minted in Mexico City. It was recovered from Corrigan's Wreck, one of the 13 Spanish Galleons which were sunk by a hurricane on the night of July 30, 1715, with over a thousand lives and millions of pesos in treasure lost. The Florida Coast is literally littered with the treasure from these galleons between Ft. Pierce and Sebastian Inlet, the Treasure Coast of Florida. This coin features the shield of Phillip V on the obverse and the Florenzada or Crusader's Cross on the reverse. Small coins like this do show seawear because of the over 260 years. It is mounted in a 14 kt. yellow gold bezel with barrel hoop at the top. The overall size of the coin is about the size of a nickel. It is accompanied by an original Cobb Coin Company Mel Fisher certificate complete with seal. These certificates are nearly impossible to find as Mel passed away in December of 1998. A steal at only.....
