This limited edition 2-CD includes a bonus disc, made up of demos, live, acoustic versions, & alternate mixes. All tracks are selected by the band from their four One Little Indian albums "Love is Hell", "Strange Free World", "Death of Cool" and "Cowboys and Aliens", and proves that the Kitchens of Distinction in retrospect were one of the best independent bands of the early 90's. If you've never had the pleasure of hearing KOD, then you really don't know what you are missing. KOD have, more than anybody else, demonstrated what artists can do with music. Formed in early 1985 by jobbing musicians Patrick Fitzgerald, Julian Swales and Dan Goodwin, Kitchens Of Distinction worked at their career the hard way: years on the toilet circuit, a slew of independent releases and their one lucky break when One Little Indian heard a demo and signed them. Their debut album, 1989?s ?Love Is Hell? received a better NME review than The Stone Roses debut, reviewed in the same issue, but somehow fame and fortune escaped them. Compiled here for the first time are career highlights, demos, live tracks and alternate takes. It?s a sharp reminder that it wasn?t all that long ago that truly exceptional bands like KoD could be left on the shelf. Too intelligent for mainstream radio, too clever for college stations.... Alas, they are gone, but the sounds of this trio live on. This album is a must for anybody serious about music.
