by Daniel Clowes. Art School Confidential is Dan Clowes and Terry Zwigoffs major motion picture follow-up to Ghost World (following Zwigoffs 2003 comedy hit, Bad Santa). Directed by Zwigoff from a script by Clowes (his first since his Oscar-nominated debut screenplay for Ghost World), the film stars John Malkovich, Max Minghella, Jim Broadbent, Anjelica Huston and Sophia Myles. The film premieres this fall from MGM/UA. Art School Confidential follows Jerome (Minghella), an art student who dreams of becoming the greatest artist in the world. The film expands on a short comic story by Dan Clowes that was originally published in his comic book series Eightball (and later collected in the book Twentieth Century Eightball), though features an entirely new narrative only tangentially resembling the original comic. For this book, the strip will be presented in full-color for the first time. This scrapbook/screenplay also features the shooting script for the film, including several scenes edited out from the final cut. It also boasts two full-color sections jammed with photos, artwork (much by Clowes), and many other surprises. 160-page B&W (16pp in color)
