Kent's last record Isola shared a release year with Radiohead's OK Computer, and in that it was sad, slow and noisy, drew comparisons to that overrated thing. Sharing the year with Kid A couldn't possibly help Kent since their ideal audience is drawn from the types of people who were aware of Radiohead's first two albums, not the last two. Hagnesta Hill, Kent's second English album is a fine follow up to the wonderful Isola. The King Is Dead, starts things off with their form of euro-rock with a splash of glam. Things then kick into high gear with the energetic Revolt III & Music Non Stop. The rest of the album carries on in fine fashion - there is the epic-sounding Stop Me June & funk-influenced Just Like Money to mix their sound up just a bit. And just as the album starts off like with a roar, the end of the journey goes to the sound of melacholy. While there are many comparisons between Kent & other bands in the genre, they definitely have a sound which sets them apart from the flock
