Michael Mantra's 'A/B' is a work of epic ambient majesty and no mistake. Supposedly composed to be listened to using headphones as a way of isolating yourself from the world, its imbalance and the rampant consumerism of modern times. Ironically you'll have to purchase this CD which would seem to suggest a certain amount of consumerism is involved... however, luckily, I can forgive this slight oversight as the music on offer is nothing short of sublime. Dark, haunting drones and textures create a flowing, mind filling sound that is soporific, fragile sounding and full of earthy goodness. Made for low-level listening it's subtle yet strangely powerful. For fans of ambient music anything by this guy is a must and this definitely falls into that category. Truly lovely.
