Everybody loves the freedom of choice. We choose what we want on our burgers, we choose which clothes to wear, and we choose the styles that we like. This is why aFe is a growing company within the automotive industry. They allow tuner’s choice in their products. aFe introduces their Air Intake Systems with an emphasis on choice. They offer three different styles of intakes, Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 2 Si. aFe also has three different filter types, Pro Dry S, Pro 5r, and Pro-Guard 7. Each option comes with their own set of unique benefits and contrasting differences which allows the tuner to choose a set that perfectly matches their own needs.
Intake Style – Stage 1
aFe’s Stage 1 Air Intake Systems are the entry-level intakes for aFe. They are the “best bang for your buck” intakes because tuners get the noise and performance from an intake system without the high cost. These intakes re-use the factory piping, and replace only the stock air box and filter.
Intake Style – Stage 2
aFe’s Stage 2 Air Intake Systems are the most common aFe style intakes. They replace the factory intake piping, air box, and filter. They give vehicles that “custom look” due to the exposed filter which aFe terms their open element style. In addition these intakes produce the most horsepower gains of aFe’s intake lineup.
Intake Style – Stage 3
aFe’s Stage 2 Si Air Intake Systems are the third and final intake in aFe’s Air Intake System Series. They replace the factory intake tube and factory air box. These intakes boast an enclosed sealed element box, meaning that the filter cone is not exposed but covered. This provides a clean factory style look and minimal sounds but still retain the performance gains from upgrading to an air intake system.
Note: Upgrade Tubes and Super Stock Air Intake Systems utilize factory air box and only replace air intake tubes.
