Orphan Boy the Farmer is a series of three short safety stories that were developed as part of our NIOSH funded research project that began in 1999. The stories portray the life of an orphaned Hmong farm boy. The stories illustrate hazards, behaviors, consequences, and control strategies related to farm work assigned to Hmong children and depict safe work practices of three tasks: Rototilling, Knife Use, and Marketplace Skills. Additional funding from the Rapid Agricultural Response Fund helped us bring these safety stories to Hmong farming and gardening families and communities. Publication date June 30, 2005.
