It has a PERMANENTLY attached De Luxe Closeup Pad that hinges down from the lid. This LARGE, DeLuxe Closeup Pad measures nearly 20 inches, by 12 inches, by 3/4 of an inch thick! It has been designed and manufactured with FIRM foam, so it will not change it's shape with time! This is the same De luxe Closeup Pad that is available elsewhere on this site. The BLACK BEAUTY is NOT flimsy...we tested the closeup pad to be able to hold OVER 100 pounds. We DON'T recommend that you do this with yours...most likely, YOURS will only have to hold up a deck of cards, a few coins, etc. The point is, the SuperCase has been designed to last you a LIFETIME!!!
Two 'wings' hinge down from the closeup pad, and are firmly/instantly secured in place, giving you, the magician, an area FREE from the prying eyes of your audience, and giving sturdy support to the closeup pad, at the same time. All of the hinges are 'piano hinges' designed to last a lifetime!
There is a HUGE interior shelf, useful for staging your props. The bottom interior of Black Beauty, and the shelf, are both covered in high quality wool, not the cheap craft-type felt that is typical. It is the only splash of color (Red) in the entire case. Verne knows that the PROFESSIONAL magician DOENS'T want the case he's performing on to catch the audience's eyes....he wants THE TRICK HE'S PERFORMING TO HAVE THEIR ATTENTION!! That's why the case is entirely black, including the closeup pad. The hinges and hardware are brass.
If you notice in the picture, the lockable hasps that close the BLACK BEAUTY, are ON THE SIDES of the case. When open, and performing, this gives you TWO locations that you can hang ropes, silks, a wand, or a pen. If you'd like one of Verne's favorite gags, he uses one of the hasps to hang the spectator's watch on, after he's 'stolen' it. He blatantly puts it on the one on the right, and continues with his show...after a minute or two, when he's AWAY from the case, he'll ask the spectator what time it is....and then casually point to the case, as the spectator realizes his watch is missing!!! (Yes, he's wearing his, "Cat-that-ate-the-canary" grin, while doing this).

There is even a track with pulley system and weights that will pull a powerful neodymium magnet along an invisible line, so that an item placed on top of the case, in the audiences' view, will move on it's own free will!
