1 August, 15 August, 12 September, 3 October 2006 Following the lead set by other countries worldwide, Royal Mail has conducted a complete overhaul of the pricing structure for inland letters and on 21 August will introduce pricing based on size as well as weight.
Known as Pricing in Proportion the new pricing structure introduces the concept of the Large Letter for which there will be new 1st & 2nd class definitives. The full list of stamps to be issued is:
1 August - 12p, 14p, 1st & 2nd (Letter), 1st & 2nd Large Letter - all from conventionally gummed sheets. 15 August - 1st & 2nd Large Letter from self-adhesive booklets of 4. 12 September - 1st & 2nd (Letter) from self-adhesive booklets of 6 or 12 and Business Sheets of 100.
