The shop was established in Thistle Street, Aberdeen, in 1951 by Jim Somers, manufacturer of the famous "Grant Vibration Green Heart Rod", still used today by many anglers who claim that its the best rod ever produced. These rods brought Somers Fishing Tackle to the fore front of the angling industry in the UK.
In 1995 David moved the business to larger premises in Bon-Accord Terrace, just off Aberdeens main thoroughfare, and arranged for Paul Young of Hooked On Scotland to conduct the grand opening. Since that time the business has gone from strength to strength and is revered as one of the premier suppliers of fishing tackle and associated equipment within the UK.
