A few months back I saw a listing in the Previews catalog for an artbook
for Return of Nadia. Normally I don't order artbooks from Previews
because they are hideously overpriced, although it is a way to guarantee
delivery. As it was, I needed to make a decision because I thought it
was for the rumored sequel to Nadia of the Sea of Mystery. I was under
time constraints and didn't have time to adequately research the book.
The book was published in 2003 and has the number 984841 018508 under
the bar code on the back cover.
Well, a more accurate title would have been Return of Nadia
Merchandising. It turns out the book was about 25 pages of art
(comparing finished pictures with initial sketches) and 225 pages of
storyboards from the original tv series. It was nice to look at, but I
usually don't go for storyboards so I wish I'd paid about a quarter of
what I did. I don't blame the publishers for my purchase of a book I
didn't really want, but I'm not too happy with the way it turned out. I
know where the responsibility lies. Anyway, I figured I'd let people
know what it was so they can make a more-informed decision than I did. December 5th, 2010 |
